TransFormal is being held in Katoomba in the scenic Blue Mountains. Just two hours by car or train from the center of Sydney this area is renowned for its spectacular mountain scenery, colourful art-deco style shops and houses, and alternative and somewhat eccentric subculture.
The historic Carrington Hotel is located at the 'Top End' of Katoomba Street, in the heart of the village's shopping district.
Conveniently close to Katoomba Station, cafes, restaurants, gift stores and only 107 kilometres from Sydney International Airport.
Recently restored to its former grandeur, this heritage listed hotel is a local landmark, offering the elegance, luxury and charm of yesteryear.
The Hotel features an award winning Grand Dining Room, Brasserie, Cocktail Bar, Billiards Room, guest lounges with open fires, Day Spa, free guest parking and more.
For three days in May it is also home to TransFormal
The most relaxing way to get to TransFormal is by train. The fast service from Central has plenty of space for luggage ( outside the rush hour) - and unless you break the speed limits will get you to Katoomba faster than by driving.
From Sydney, take the M4 west to the Blue Mountains. The M4 becomes the Great Western Highway at the base of the Blue Mountains (Lapstone). Follow the Great Western Highway to Katoomba. Turn left off the highway into Katoomba. Drive across the railway bridge, turn left at the first roundabout, turn right at the second roundabout. This is Katoomba Street. The Carrington Hotel can be seen directly on the right, behind the Town Square.
The Carrington Hotel is a 2 hour train trip departing from Central Station Country Trains platform. Click here for timetable information
If you are coming from the airport then you will also have to take the airport link train from the terminal to Central Station.
That short trip will actually be the most expensive part of your journey to Katoomba.
Alight at Katoomba Station. Walk up the stairs to the shop side of the station. Take the pedestrian crossing into Katoomba Street. 50 metres on your right behind the town square is The Carrington Hotel.
